DISCOVERY SESSIONS
Although a discovery is the formal start of the SharePoint planning stage, the project has started well before, in the minds and imaginations of those involved. The discovery session pulls together ideas, hopes, expectations, wants and needs. These are moulded together with what is practical, possible, desirable and within budget, inside a project framework.
PROBLEM SOLVING & BUSINESS PURPOSE
The stakeholders meet and explore expectations, needs, wants and desires. This also includes functionality requirements. The Document created from this session should also include information on SharePoint functionality so that recipients can prepare for stage two, “SharePoint Intranet Structure”.
STRUCTURE
The structure of the company intranet is now created. The people attending this stage may differ from those in the first session. This session explores the What, How, Why, Where and Who. Every decision made about the Intranet structure is building upon the decisions made in stage one. The output from this session will be an overall structure document
BRANDING/LOOK & FEEL
The stake holders meet (Marketing, HR and appropriate management etc) and make decisions about the look and feel. This is where decisions are made about brands and Logos and colours. It is however much more than that. The team for this session makes the decisions for the final product and the output from this session is the information used to create the final proposal.
